New Workshop: Denim Upcycling with By Kala X

I’m really excited to share something new with you…

My Denim Upcycling Workshops are launching in Leyton this April.

If you’ve ever had a denim jacket or shirt sitting in your wardrobe that you love but don’t quite wear anymore, this workshop is the perfect chance to give it a completely new life.

In this hands-on creative session, we’ll transform pre-loved denim into something bold, personal and completely unique using vibrant fabric patches and simple techniques you can continue using at home.

📍 Leyton Green Gallery, London E10

Join me for a relaxed 3-hour creative workshop where we’ll explore how to refresh denim pieces using colourful fabric patches and design techniques inspired by the fabrics I use in my By Kala X collections.

What to Expect

During the workshop you’ll:

• Learn simple techniques to attach fabric patches to denim

• Work with vibrant African print offcuts from the By Kala X studio

• Transform your jacket or shirt into a one-of-a-kind statement piece

• Enjoy a relaxed, creative environment with guidance throughout

This session is suitable for beginners and creatives alike – no previous sewing experience is required.

What to Bring

Please bring at least one denim item you’d like to transform. This could be:

• A denim jacket

• Jeans

• A denim shirt

• A skirt

Fabric patches and materials will be provided, but you’re also welcome to bring your own fabrics if you have something special you’d like to incorporate.

Why Upcycling?

Upcycling is one of my favourite ways to combine creativity and sustainability. It’s about giving garments a second life and turning something forgotten into something exciting again.

And of course, it’s also a chance to bring a little By Kala X colour and pattern into your wardrobe.

Spaces are limited to keep the workshop relaxed and hands-on.
